How to Create and Manage Business Profiles
Business Profiles
A business profile represents your company or organization across all your charging locations on SpotCharge. It provides consistent branding and makes managing multiple locations easier.
What is a Business Profile?
A business profile is your company's public presence on SpotCharge.
It includes:
- Business name and logo
- Company description
- Website and contact information
- Social media links
- All locations you operate
- Aggregate statistics across locations
Where it appears:
- On each of your location pages
- Business profile page (
/business/[your-slug]) - Search results (shows your brand)
- Owner dashboard
Why Create a Business Profile?
Benefits:

Example: "Acme Property Management" operates 5 locations. Their business profile shows all 5 sites, combined 4.4-star rating, and company description emphasizing EV-friendly buildings.
Creating a Business Profile
Step 1: Access Business Profile Settings
- Go to Dashboard
- Click "Business Profile" in navigation
- Or go to Account Settings β Business Profile tab
- Click "Create Business Profile" button
Note: You can create a business profile with any subscription tier (Free, Premium, Premium Multi).
Step 2: Enter Business Information
Required fields:
Business Name (60 characters max)
- Official company name
- Appears on all locations
- Examples: "Tesla Supercharger Network", "Acme Property Management", "Downtown Parking LLC"
Business Type (select one)
- Parking operator
- Property management
- Retail/shopping center
- Hotel/hospitality
- Workplace/office
- Charging network operator
- Municipality/government
- Other
Contact Email
- Public-facing email for driver inquiries
- Can be different from your account email
- Examples: ev@company.com, charging@property.com
Optional but recommended:
Company Description (500 characters max)
- Tell your story
- Why you support EV charging
- What makes your locations special
- Services you provide
Example:
Acme Property Management owns and operates 12 commercial
properties in the Bay Area. We're committed to sustainability
and installed ChargePoint stations at all our buildings in
2023. Our goal is to make EV ownership convenient for our
tenants and visitors. All our chargers are Level 2 (7.2 kW)
with 24/7 access for building occupants.
Company Website
- Your main website URL
- Adds credibility
- Drivers can learn more about your business
Phone Number (optional)
- Public contact number
- For driver inquiries about charging
- Can be main line or dedicated EV support number
Step 3: Upload Logo
Logo requirements:
Technical specs:
- Format: PNG, JPG, or SVG
- Minimum size: 200x200 pixels
- Recommended: 500x500 pixels (square)
- Max file size: 2MB
- Transparent background (PNG) preferred
Design guidelines:
- Simple, recognizable logo
- Readable at small sizes
- High contrast
- No text-heavy logos (won't scale well)
- Professional appearance
Where logo appears:
- Location pages (header)
- Business profile page
- Search results (next to location name)
- Map pins (Premium feature, coming soon)
No logo?
- System uses business name initials in colored circle
- Example: "Acme Property Management" β "APM" in blue circle
Step 4: Add Social Media Links (Optional)
Supported platforms:
- Facebook page
- Twitter/X handle
- LinkedIn company page
- Instagram handle
- YouTube channel
Why add social media:
- Builds trust and credibility
- Drivers can follow for updates
- Cross-promotion opportunities
- Shows active, engaged business
Format:
- Enter full URL:
https://facebook.com/yourcompany - Or username/handle (we'll format it)
Step 5: Link Your Locations
Automatically linked:
- All locations you own/claim are auto-linked to your business profile
- No manual linking required
Manage locations:
- Business Profile β Locations tab
- See all locations under your profile
- Option to unlink specific locations (if you sold property, etc.)
Multi-location view:
- Drivers see "5 locations" on your business profile
- Can browse all your sites from one page
- Useful for comparing locations
- Shows your network coverage
Step 6: Review and Publish
- Preview your business profile
- Click "Publish Profile"
- Profile goes live immediately
- Appears on all your locations within 5 minutes
Managing Your Business Profile
Editing Information
To update business profile:
- Dashboard β Business Profile
- Click "Edit Profile" button
- Update any fields
- Click "Save Changes"
Changes take effect immediately.
Common updates:
- New logo after rebrand
- Updated description
- New website URL
- Additional social media accounts
- Contact information changes
Adding/Removing Locations
New location:
- When you claim a new location, it auto-links to your business profile
- No action needed
Removing location:
- If you sell/transfer a location:
- Business Profile β Locations tab
- Find location
- Click "Unlink from Business"
- Confirm
- Location still exists but no longer shows your business branding
Business Profile URL
Your profile gets a unique URL:
Format: /business/[business-slug]
Example:
- Business name: "Acme Property Management"
- URL:
/business/acme-property-management
Slug generation:
- Auto-generated from business name
- Lowercase, hyphens replace spaces
- Unique (if duplicate, adds number:
acme-property-2)
Customizing slug:
- Dashboard β Business Profile β Edit
- Click "Customize URL"
- Enter preferred slug (must be available)
- Subject to approval (no inappropriate/misleading slugs)

What Drivers See
Business profile page includes:
Header:
- Business logo
- Business name
- Business type badge
- Overall rating (average across all locations)
- Total locations
- Website and contact links
About Section:
- Company description
- Social media links
- Contact information
Locations List:
- All your charging locations
- Mini-map showing network coverage
- Filter/sort options (by rating, distance, connector type)
- Quick stats per location
Aggregate Statistics:
- Total locations
- Total charging ports
- Average rating
- Total reviews
- Connector types available across network

Optimization tips:
- Include keywords in description (EV charging, city names)
- Complete all fields
- Add high-quality logo
- Link from your main website to SpotCharge profile
Business Profile vs Individual Locations
When to Use Business Profile
Use business profile if:
β You operate 2+ charging locations β You're a business/organization (not individual) β You want consistent branding across sites β You have a logo and company identity β You want to promote your EV commitment
Examples:
- Property management companies
- Parking garage operators
- Hotel chains
- Retail chains with charging
- Charging network operators
When to Skip Business Profile
Skip if:
β You only operate 1 location β You're an individual homeowner sharing a charger β You don't have business branding β Location is unrelated to a business (park, public space)
Note: You can still claim and manage locations without a business profile. It's optional.
Multi-User Business Accounts (Future)
Coming soon:
- Add team members to business profile
- Assign roles (admin, editor, viewer)
- Multiple people can manage locations
- Audit log of changes
- Notifications to team
For now:
- Only one account per business profile
- Share login credentials if needed (not recommended)
- Contact support for ownership transfer if staff changes

Share Your Profile
Share URL:
- Add to website footer: "Find our EV chargers on SpotCharge"
- Link from Google Business Profile
- Share on social media
- Include in email signatures
- Add to tenant/customer communications
QR code:
- Business Profile β Share
- Generate QR code
- Print and display at locations
- "Scan to see all our EV charging locations"
Marketing Materials
Branded assets:
- "EV Charging Available" signage with SpotCharge logo
- Window decals for properties
- Brochures for tenants/customers

Common Questions
Q: Do I need a business profile to manage locations? A: No. Business profiles are optional. You can claim and manage locations without one.
Q: Can I have multiple business profiles? A: Not with one account. If you operate distinct businesses, you'd need separate accounts.
Q: Does a business profile cost extra? A: No. Available with all subscription tiers (Free, Premium, Premium Multi).
Q: Can I link locations I don't own? A: No. You can only link locations you've successfully claimed ownership of.
Q: What if my business name is already taken? A: Contact support. We'll verify ownership and may allow duplicate if legitimate.
Q: Can I transfer my business profile to someone else? A: Yes. Contact support to transfer ownership (requires documentation).
Q: Does my business profile show on competitor listings? A: No. Only on your own claimed locations.
Q: Can I customize the business profile page design? A: Not currently. All profiles use the same template for consistency.
