EV Charging in Austin & Central Texas

Austin pulls visitors for festivals, F1, conventions, and the tech offices, and it has the charging density of a city that adopted EVs early: downtown garages and hotels carry Level 2 for the overnight, and the suburbs along I-35 — Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Kyle — fill in the rest.

Fast charging runs the I-35 spine and the MoPac and 183 corridors, which covers the drive in from Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio and the run west into the Hill Country. Festival weeks are the exception: the downtown plugs go first, and a full battery on arrival is the plan.

When to go: SXSW (March) and the ACL–F1 stretch (October) are the crunch weeks; Longhorns home Saturdays fill the campus-side garages. Summer heat pushes charging toward covered garages.
