1. Information We Collect
When you create an account on SpotCharge, we collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, and account role (driver or location owner). If you register as a location owner, we also collect business information such as company name, charging station addresses, and station details.
We automatically collect certain information when you use our service, including your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. This helps us improve our service and ensure security.
Billing data via Stripe. When you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers; Stripe tokenizes payment methods on its own infrastructure. We retain your Stripe customer and subscription IDs, billing cycle, subscription status, and current period dates so we can manage your subscription.
Email delivery via Resend. Transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, subscription receipts, support replies) are sent through Resend, which retains delivery metadata (sent / delivered / bounced events) for service-quality purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our EV charging station directory
- Create and manage your account
- Display charging station information to drivers
- Process reviews and facilitate communication between drivers and station owners
- Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password resets)
- Send service-related communications about your account or listings
3. Information Sharing
Charging station information (name, address, amenities, photos, reviews) is publicly visible on SpotCharge. This is the core purpose of our directory service.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
We use the following third-party service providers (sub-processors) to operate the platform. Each operates under its own privacy policy and data-protection commitments:
- Stripe (Privacy Policy) — payment processing, subscription billing, customer portal
- Supabase (Privacy Policy) — database hosting, authentication, file storage
- Vercel (Privacy Policy) — application hosting, deployment, anonymous performance analytics
- Resend (Privacy Policy) — transactional email delivery and delivery-event logging
We may also share information when required by law, regulation, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SpotCharge, our users, or the public.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (PostgreSQL) with row-level security policies. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and implement access controls to protect your information. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your personal account (your profile, login, and reviewer name). Charging-station listings, photos, and reviews you uploaded remain on SpotCharge per the User Content license in our Terms; locations you owned will be marked as unclaimed.
- Opt out of marketing communications

6. Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. These are necessary for the service to function. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
7. Affiliate Disclosure
SpotCharge participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and other affiliate programs. When you click on a link marked “Sponsored” on one of our free-tier location pages and then make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
Affiliate commissions do not influence the ordering of charging locations, the reviews we display, or which locations are marked as verified. Paid subscription placements (e.g. “Featured” listings) are earned through a location owner’s paid subscription and are clearly labeled.
This disclosure is made in accordance with 16 CFR Part 255 (FTC Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising). Questions about our affiliate relationships can be directed to support@spotcharge.io.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on our website or sending you an email.
