Deleting Your SpotCharge Account
You can permanently delete your SpotCharge account at any time. This action is irreversible and removes all your data from our system.
⚠️ Important Warnings
Account deletion is permanent:
❌ Cannot be undone - No way to recover data ❌ All locations removed - Drivers won't find your stations ❌ Reviews deleted - Your responses and location reviews gone ❌ No reactivation - Must create new account to return ❌ Subscription canceled - No refund for unused time (monthly)
Consider alternatives before deleting (see below).
What Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, we permanently remove:
Account Data
- ✅ Email address and login credentials
- ✅ Profile information (name, phone, preferences)
- ✅ Password and security settings
- ✅ Notification preferences
- ✅ Account history and activity logs
Location Data (If Owner)
- ✅ All claimed locations
- ✅ Stations and ports you created
- ✅ Photos you uploaded
- ✅ Amenities you configured
- ✅ Business profile
- ✅ Analytics history
Reviews & Engagement
- ✅ Reviews you wrote (as driver)
- ✅ Review responses you posted (as owner)
- ✅ Issue reports you submitted
- ✅ Favorites you saved
Billing Data
- ✅ Subscription canceled immediately
- ✅ Payment methods removed
- ✅ Invoice history deleted after 90 days (tax retention)
Note: Some data retained for legal compliance (see Data Retention below).
What Happens to Your Locations
If You're a Location Owner
Your locations become:
Option A: Unclaimed Locations
- Locations revert to "unclaimed" status
- Still visible to drivers
- No owner profile or branding
- Can't be edited until someone else claims
- Reviews remain (from drivers)
- Your review responses are deleted
Option B: Transfer Ownership (Recommended)
- Transfer locations to another account before deleting
- Contact support for ownership transfer
- Requires verification from new owner
- Preserves all location data
If You're a Driver
Your activity:
- Reviews you wrote are anonymized (show as "Former User")
- Favorites list deleted
- No impact on locations (you didn't own them)
Alternatives to Deleting
1. Cancel Subscription (Keep Account)
Better if:
- You might return later
- You want to keep your claimed locations
- Temporary break, not permanent exit

- Cost is the issue
- You only need 1 location
- Want to maintain some presence

3. Transfer Ownership & Delete
Better if:
- Selling property
- Handing off to new manager
- Want someone else to take over

- They verify and claim ownership
- Then delete your account
Result:
- Locations stay active under new owner
- Your account deleted
- Smooth transition for drivers
4. Make Account Inactive
Better if:
- Taking extended break
- Unsure about permanent deletion
- Want option to return
How:
- Cancel subscription
- Remove all locations manually
- Don't delete account
- Simply stop using it
Result:
- No cost (on Free tier)
- Account exists but empty
- Can reactivate anytime
- Email still registered (can't be reused)
How to Delete Your Account
Step 1: Back Up Important Data
Before deleting, export/save:
- Invoices - Download from billing portal
- Analytics - Screenshot or export reports
- Location information - Copy details you want to keep
- Photos - Download originals if you want them
- Reviews - Screenshot if you want record
You cannot retrieve this data after deletion.
Step 2: Cancel Subscriptions & Transfer Locations
Required before deletion:

Cancel Premium/Premium Multi subscription
- Dashboard → Subscription → Cancel
- Wait for cancellation or request immediate downgrade

Transfer location ownership (if keeping locations active)
- Email support@spotcharge.io
- Provide new owner details
- Complete transfer before deletion

Download invoices (for tax records)
- Billing Portal → Invoices → Download All
Step 3: Initiate Account Deletion
- Log in to Dashboard
- Go to Account Settings
- Scroll to bottom: "Danger Zone"
- Click "Delete Account" button (red)
Step 4: Confirm Deletion
Deletion confirmation screen:
- Review what will be deleted
- Enter your password (verification)
- Type "DELETE" in confirmation box
- Check box: "I understand this is permanent"
- Click "Permanently Delete Account"
Final warning shown: "Are you absolutely sure? This action cannot be undone."
Step 5: Deletion Confirmation
After confirming:
- Immediate logout
- Confirmation email sent to your address
- Account deletion begins
- Completed within 24 hours
Email confirms:
- Account deleted successfully
- Locations unclaimed or transferred
- Subscription canceled and refund status
- Data retention policy reminder
Deletion Timeline
What happens when:
Immediately (within 1 minute):
- Account deactivated (can't log in)
- Locations become unclaimed
- Subscription canceled
- Payment methods removed
Within 24 hours:
- Profile data deleted
- Photos removed from storage
- Analytics purged
- Business profile deleted
Within 30 days:
- Backup copies purged
- Cached data cleared
- Search index updated
Within 90 days:
- Invoice history deleted (after tax retention period)
- Server logs purged
Data Retention (Legal Compliance)
We retain certain data for legal reasons:
Retained for 90 days:
- Transaction records (invoices, payments)
- Tax documentation
- Fraud prevention data
Retained for 7 years:
- Payment disputes or chargebacks
- IRS requirements (US accounts)
Never deleted:
- Anonymized analytics (no personal identifiers)
- Aggregated usage stats
Privacy:
- Retained data not linked to your identity
- Cannot be used to identify you
- Used only for legal compliance
Reactivation After Deletion
Can I Reactivate?
No. Deletion is permanent.
If you want to return:
- Create new account (different email or wait 30 days)
- Start from scratch
- Cannot recover old data
- Cannot reclaim same locations (someone else may have claimed)
- Lose verification status
Creating New Account
If you deleted and want to return:
Within 30 days:
- Your email is still "in use" (deletion in progress)
- Use different email to create new account
- Or wait 30 days for email to be released
After 30 days:
- Email is released
- Can create new account with same email
- Fresh start (no old data)
Note: Cannot re-use same business name if someone else claimed it.
Refund Policy After Deletion
Monthly Subscriptions
No refunds for:
- Current month (you got service)
- Previous months
Annual Subscriptions
Pro-rated refunds:
- Unused months refunded
- Calculation: (Months unused / 12) × Annual price
- Processed to original payment method
- 5-10 business days to appear
Example:
- Premium annual: $290
- Deleted after 3 months
- Refund: (9/12) × $290 = $217.50
Payment Failures or Disputes
If account deleted due to non-payment:
- No refund (payment already failed)
- Outstanding balance forgiven
- Cannot create new account until resolved
What Drivers See
After You Delete
Locations you owned:
- Show as "Unclaimed"
- No owner badge
- No business profile
- Cannot respond to new reviews
- Your old responses deleted
Reviews you wrote (as driver):
- Show as "Former User"
- Star rating remains
- Review text remains
- Your profile link removed
Account Deletion vs Temporary Deactivation
SpotCharge does not offer temporary deactivation.
Options:
- Delete account - Permanent, cannot undo
- Cancel subscription - Account stays, reverts to Free
- Stop using - Account exists but inactive (Free tier)
Recommendation: Cancel subscription instead of deleting if unsure.

Q: Can I get my data back after deleting? A: No. Deletion is permanent and irreversible.
Q: What happens to drivers who favorited my location? A: Their favorites remain, but location shows as "Unclaimed" until someone else claims it.
Q: Can I delete just my locations, not my account? A: Yes. Dashboard → Sites → [Location] → Delete. Keeps account active.
Q: Will deleting my account delete my reviews on other locations? A: Reviews anonymized to "Former User" but remain visible.
Q: How long before I can reuse my email? A: 30 days after deletion completes.
Q: Can I transfer my account to someone else? A: No. Transfer locations, then delete account. New person creates their own account.

Q: Can someone else claim my locations after I delete? A: Yes. Locations become unclaimed and anyone can claim ownership.
